What Makes Ruhmel Green Building Greener?
Ruhmel Contracting’s Shades of Green program has been designed to make the core advantages of Green Building available to all our clients.
One of the primary differences in determining your Shade is cost objectives. Older, conventional methods of construction are designed to deliver a low initial cost to build a home, while green building strives to deliver a lower cost of lifetime ownership.
Ruhmel Contracting, Inc was one of the first Lehigh Valley builders to become official Energy Star Building Partners, and see such merit in the EPA certification they have pledged to build every home minimally to the Energy Star standards. For the homeowner that means third party verification on a number of energy saving parameters that are built right in for you. For clients whose environmentalist spirit is more aggressive, the Shades of Green extend to the NAHB Green Home certification and the LEED certification process. Each is briefly outlined below, but to decide what shade you are please contact us or visit us at HoudenHAL.
Which green are you?
We are proud to offer new homes that have earned the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are substantially more energy efficient than homes built to the minimum code requirements. Our ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are independently verified by a third-party Home Energy Rater to ensure they meet ENERGY STAR energy efficiency guidelines. These homes are better for the environment and better for you.Learn more about ENERGY STAR qualified new homes at http://www.energystar.gov/.
Designed by the National Association of Home Builders, the NAHB Green certification is more robust than Energy Star. It takes into account many of the same considerations as the LEED process, but is intended to be more affordable.
The LEED process has achieved what it’s acronym proclaims — Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The LEED process has detailed point systems that delivers your grade of certification (certified through various precious metals). This is the most comprehensive and widely known certification attainable.
